What is vortal?

What is vortal?

Vortal is a vertical industry or market or specific group portal on the Internet. A contraction of "vertical portal," vortal refers to a Web site that aggregates disparate content and services of interest to a particular industry and makes it available to industry members.
While a portal attracts a large number of "netizens" (Internet citizens) offering a wide range of contents and links to other sites such as Yahoo! or AOL, Vortals are narrower in focus and address a specific industry, theme, or specific interest. The audience or participants may be smaller, but they are of possess higher interest and are highly targeted.
The concept of a Vertical Portal is based upon the premise of linking customers and vendors together within a focused environment. This environment provides information and features, which encourage members to remain within the boundaries of the Vertical Portal. Vortals are also seen as likely business-to-business communities or business-to-consumer communities.

LIS & Ehsan

Library information science and Ehsan.

I am Ehsan Mohammadi who graduated in Library & Information science from Isfahan University in Iran.
When I accepted(2000) in LIS (B.A) in isfahan ,with out any known form LIS start my studing,at that time I accepted in French, German literature and translating & I was eager to be student of foreign language ,any way ,I passed my credit in semester one but nothing appealed me in library science and I decided to change my course to English or German, but after a lot of questions ,all people told me: Library and information science is new course and you can be success in this field, additionally if you are interested in learning an other language you can be student of any field and learn new language out of your formal university programs. But I could not convince my self
Because I was living in dormitory and undergraduate student had not any recognition about LIS they make fun me with some expression like” shelf engineering and ketabkozar (a person who put books) and …I hated more to library and information science
What I had to done?
Nothing did not attract me to LIS till semester five when I had been familiar with Kayvan Kousha (PhD student in LIS) during information science and culture fair in Tehran. After that I accessed to internet and really matched with cyber space on net and understood value, power of information and information science and right now I am crazy about Library and information science and take part in every session about LIS
One of my best wishes is continue my studying in LIS in a university of developed countries.
